Transforming lives, so you can change the world.
Does it feel like your earring is about to rip out? Did it tear through the lobe already?
Earlobe repair is a very rewarding procedure and involves a delicate reconstruction of the lobe itself to allow for minimal scarring and eventual placement of a new earring.
Dr. Lemelman takes great care to ensure the new earlobe has all the qualities of the original lobe, just with a small scar.
Risks of fixing a torn earlobe include all the risks of surgery, so please meet with Dr. Lemelman to discuss if this is the correct approach for you. Surgical repair is performed for patients while they are wide awake with local anesthesia. One ear can take about 30 minutes to fix the lobe. Then about three months after the repair, a new piercing can be placed.
It's time to get out the old jewelry box and start wearing earrings again.
Correction of prominent ears (otoplasty) can bring confidence to both kids and business professionals alike. Patients can go home the same day of surgery, and the results can be life changing.
Not everyone needs to have their ears "set back." Each person is unique, and sometimes the prominence of the ear can be a defining characteristic.
In certain cases, where someone is bullied, or someone develops a low self-esteem, surgery may be helpful. Otoplasty is not meant to be a fix-all for any of these things, yet it can help improve one's confidence. Therapy or deeper discussions with family may also play a pivotal role. Plastic and reconstructive surgery, whether it's on the ears or lips or body, can help patients move past their insecurities in order to develop the connections they desire in the world.
